FLOOD

What in the world is FLOOD?

Glad you asked!  Every so often we, Hot Springs Wesleyan Church, cancel our regularly scheduled Sunday worship to "FLOOD" Hot Springs.  We do things like hand out bottles of water at a busy intersection, pay for a portion of someone's gas, buy a stranger a cup of coffee.  Anything we can do to make someone's day a little better we do.

So FLOOD is the same thing as a service project?

Yes and no. We're definitely serving, but not in the traditional sense.  Everyone has something to give. We strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus, loving and serving those around us. FLOOD day is when we take time out of our routine to be very intentional about this.  We simply want to mirror Christ's love in a very practical way.

Why do you call it FLOOD?

Good question! We believe that God has called us to develop fully devoted followers of Jesus that overflow into the world. Emphasis on the word overflow.  We desire to be a church without walls.  We want to overflow or flood our community with the love of Christ.

What's the purpose behind this?

We are changed. The love of Christ has changed us.  It's really that simple.  Through Christ's work on the cross we have a hope that is almost indescribable and through that hope comes joy.  We simply want to share that joy!  Hopefully through the simple act of getting an unexpected bottle of water, a cup of coffee or a cheaper gallon of gas you walk away knowing that there is a God that loves you and so does this church.

Are you just trying to promote your church?

No.  Not intentionally.  In fact, for the most part, we try to keep our church name off of our Flood marketing material and t-shirts. Not that we're not proud of our church, but promoting Hot Springs Wesleyan isn't the main objective.  Promoting Jesus is the goal.  Our goal is for you to know Christ.  If you choose to worship with another bible believing church that's ok.  We'll celebrate together in heaven.  At the end of the day, that's all that matters.
